#nexusinterviews with Wayne Thompson

I had spoken with Mr Thompson a while ago. But I surely started that interview a bit differently than the other ones. I knew he is a Research Scientist with The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), having earned his degrees in Physics and Mathematics at UAH in 1994.

I also knew that Mr. Thompson has been a NEXUS Energy Center (NEC) Board member since its inception and is its longest serving Board member.

So I just wanted to break the ice by asking him what was his favorite place in Huntsville. While he was giving his answer his face was becoming so happy! Huntsville has some beautiful places around alright. But the Huntsville Land Trust Trails on Monte Sano has an unprecedented beauty like no other spot in our city!

This coming from a person that has worked at UAH for over 20 years, primarily in Space Mission research, and has handled over $4,000,000.00 and received a patent (with another pending) as a Project Manager and Principal Investigator, meant a lot to me. Being close to nature and be respectful of it are two of the main values that drive us as team of Nexus Energy Center.

Yet I was curious. For sure to be that successful one has their share of failures that made them stronger and allowed them to grow in a more tangible way. When I asked Mr Thompson to share what he thought his biggest failure was this is the answer I got:

My first patent was in 1999. I thought it was “going places – it did not. It

ended up getting sabotaged by the people I expected to take the invention

to the next level. The failure was that I thought I had done my part and I

could let someone else follow through.

I learned that if you want something to come to fruition you have to continuously work hard and see it through completely until it does, or it will not.

Thus, following such a strong statement I had to ask what was his dream about Alabama and the USA.

“My biggest dream for Alabama and the USA is a dream of peace and prosperity for everyone through clean, renewable energy and wise, just policy.”

We finished our fruitful interview with him giving me his Golden Rule as a piece of advice

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Thank you Mr Thompson, we are proud to call you a member of our board and a trusted mentor and supporter.
