Nexus & HVAC

We have exciting news to share with you today.

Nexus Energy Center is once again saving you money on home energy costs. This month we will begin offering servicing opportunities to home and business HVAC units. After completing an energy audit on your home or business, Nexus Energy Center will offer you the option of repairing your HVAC unit then and there. All homes and businesses must complete an energy audit prior to servicing their units; this ensures that the repairs align with the results of the audit.

Nexus Energy Center has received all licenses, bonding and insurance required by the State of Alabama to provide services to you and your HVAC unit. In addition, we are offering several lucky home and business owners the opportunity to have an annual maintenance agreement; this way, HVAC experts from Nexus Energy Center can maintain your HVAC unit and ensure it will continue properly heating in the winter and cooling in the summer.

Now, we know you may be scratching your head and wondering why a non-profit organization like Nexus Energy Center would add on these services in addition to our current energy audit offerings…

The answer is easy.

  1. Your HVAC system is one of the most important aspects of home maintenance and comfort; you will notice it the most when it is not working properly.
  2. The costs of repairing the unit are high. Nationally, most repairs set you back between $100-600 just to get your unit working again. Unfortunately, these repairs are not always optimal, but rather just to the point of getting your unit up and running again.

So, even though your home is being heated or cooled, the energy efficiency may not necessarily be in tip-top condition.

Did you know that it costs the average homeowner roughly $2000 a year to operate the heating and cooling system in a modest 1800 sq ft home?

The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that 70% of a homeowner’s energy costs are associated with the heating, cooling, and water heater aspects of your home; making these the largest contributors to your energy and utility expenses.

Because of this, Nexus Energy Center chooses to operate in the field of Energy Efficiency with the focus of how we can help our community. This goes right along with our Mission Statement and the reason why Ruchi Singhal started Nexus Energy Center.

“It is important for all of us to maintain proper maintenance of our HVAC systems to ensure peak performance. Taking steps like we recommend in our maintenance agreement can, and will, address possible problems that can result in lower energy bills, longer HVAC equipment life and a more comfortable environment in your home.” – Ruchi Singal, CEM, Founder and Executive Director of Nexus Energy Center

Remember, the DOE reports that HVAC preventative maintenance can save you anywhere from 5%-40% of your energy costs. Now, we cannot guarantee that your unit will work forever; no one can, nor should, make that promise. What we can do is keep your unit working in the highest efficient manner possible while under our annual agreements.

Mrs. Singhal stresses, “No unit will last forever, unfortunately. In fact, ever year your HVAC decreases in its performance efficiency. Just like your car, or any major equipment component, it is at its best when new. But with our maintenance agreement, we will keep your HVAC running as efficiently as possible, no matter its age.”

Nexus Energy Center’s Program Manager, Chad Wright, has received his HVAC certification and spent hundreds of hours studying and working alongside licensed HVAC contractors.

Mr. Wright has his HVAC license from the Alabama Board of Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Contractors. With this license, Mr. Wright can repair and replace any HVAC unit for a home or business. Mrs. Singhal, as well as the rest of our team, is proud of Chad’s accomplishment and what it means to Nexus Energy Center. “Chad has worked extremely hard over these last several months, while continuing to help the underserved with energy audits and repairs, to get this license. This will be a HUGE benefit for both our clients and those who take advantage of our HVAC and energy services.”
