Ms. Ventura – The Comfort Project

When we asked Ms. Ventura what the biggest thing was that was making her feeling uncomfortable in her own home, her reaction was: “Oh my God” …

The main problem was the absence of insulation in the attic; her house is at least 65 years old. The notion of insulation and energy proofing one’s home was almost absent back then.

A second, and equally crucial, problem is that the heating or the cooling of the house was really sporadic. According to Ms. Ventura, “On a cold day the house reminds me of an ice box.” And during the summer, [we all know what the temperatures in Alabama during the summer can reach] her house becomes miserable.

After our Comfort Project, now Ms. Ventura can be in a house where her body temperature does not fluctuate, the noise from the heating/cooling devices are close to minimum, and the utility costs have been lowered because the insulation is helping keep everything inside the house.

This is the work we do with the underserved of our community. Thank you all for being part of the smiles we create!
