Low Interest Rate Financing for TVA Energy Right, HVAC and Insulation

The AlabamaWISE home energy efficiency loan gives homeowners a low-cost option to repair or replace home HVAC, air conditioning, insulation and other energy-related home comfort systems and the TVA Energy Right program.

Unlike Energy Efficiency Mortgages (EEMs) or FHA 203k, Second Mortgages or Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC), the AlabamaWISE community energy efficiency loan does not require an appraisal because it is a personal, signature loan.

And, unlike most consumer loans such as credit cards or instant contractor financing, the AlabamaWISE loan offers homeowners in north Alabama low interest rates through the non-profit Nexus Energy Center in partnership with ADECA funded by the Department of Energy Better Buildings Neighborhoods program.

The AlabamaWISE program helps homeowners make homes affordable by lowering the cost of summer air conditioning, winter heating and hot water through a network of participating contractors certified in building science in addition to the usual contractor licenses.

Participating contractors will analyze all the home’s energy related components, including insulation, heating and cooling, windows and doors, crawlspace and attic to develop a prioritized list so homeowners can select the most cost-effective options. The cost of the comprehensive evaluation and energy assessment can be included in the loan.
