Huntsville Experts Share 7 Tips for Cutting Home Energy Costs

If higher-than-normal utility bills this winter have kept you awake at night, you’re not alone.

Daniel Tait, program manager for Nexus Energy Center in Huntsville, said recent extreme cold weather across north Alabama has resulted in some electric bills that are 30 to 40 percent higher than they were a year ago.

“Unfortunately what most people are seeing as high winter bills are actually indicative of a permanent and underlying problem,” he said. “Without taking a systematic approach to solving your home performance problems, you’ll be guaranteed to see these issues pop up time and time again.”
