Energy Savers : Air Sealing

We live in a period of time where we might not spend so much time in our home due to the many priorities we have during the day and the workload but the hours we spent in our homes we all need to feel as much comfortable as possible.

During summer we use our air condition systems for many hours per day and during the winter we use as well our heating system for many hours per day in order to create the comfortable environment we need after many hours of stress and work and as result we spend a big amount of money per month in our house bills and we consume a large percentage of energy which as a result is a terrible waste of energy.

Most of the houses also do not have good air sealing and as result air comes into the h?me and as an outcome we need to increase our heating or cooling system to have the result we want, a cold or hot house.  This actions cause an even larger amount of money spent in our electricity bills.

Moreover these actions affect even more our environment and at the same time our own lives because our systems might have a damage that we haven’t recognized and this damage affects our health. There are some simple things we can do in our everyday life to decrease the energy we consume in our house and also do cost-cutting in our expenses.

Check below some  tips :

  • Check if your house is air sealed. If it is not do an air sealing.
  • Check your doors and windows if they do not have a leak.
  • Check for air leaks in your plumbing, electrical wiring or ducting that comes through walls or floors.
  • Search for dirty spots inside the house in your walls or in your roofs which may indicate air leaks.
  • Replace your windows with storm windows or more efficient windows.
  • In summer period where you do not use your fireplace keep it really good closed in order not to cause air leaks.
