Huntsville, AL-

The Comfort Project, a community-based effort to help underserved homes in the Huntsville area, is a relatively new program at Nexus Energy Center that installs energy-efficient measures on homes to make them more comfortable and less expensive to operate.

This year, Nexus is working with ADECA and the Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments (TARCOG) to help lower utility bills, improve energy efficiency and beautify 10 homes for $2,500 each through early 2015.

“We feel like everybody deserves to have a house that’s comfortable and everybody deserves to have a house that’s warm in the winter,” said Ruchi Singhal, executive director of Nexus. “There’s some simple energy efficient measures that can really allow that to happen.”
