Making Your Home WISE

The Athens WISE (Worthwhile Investments Save Energy) Home Energy Program offers Athens homeowners a realistic set of solutions for saving energy and lowering utility bills, making your home more efficient and comfortable, and reducing your home’s impact on the environment.

Athens WISE offers homeowners access to a professional and thorough home energy assessment, as well as quality installation work from vetted contractors. Through the program, homeowners are given information and resources needed to create energy efficient, healthy, and WISE homes.

Working with its partners, Athens WISE is able to provide up to $750 in rebates to homeowners who install efficiency measures that result in an energy savings of at least 20%. For the average homeowner, the end result typically equals a savings of 20-30% in home energy costs, which also significantly increases the home’s resell value.

Schedule the home energy assessment with a WISE energy professional
Evaluate recommendations from the energy assessment
Schedule the upgrades to your home
Receive instant rebates!

The Energy Assessment:

An energy professional will perform an initial assessment of each home, including blower door and duct blaster tests, which will check for air leaks and inefficiencies in the home. Homeowners will receive a customized list of recommendations that might include changing out light bulbs to compact florescent, changing the air filters and sealing holes to allow the home’s heating and cooling units to work more effectively, replacing and sealing ducts, installing additional insulation, and more.

Athens WISE representatives ensure quality control over each job to be certain the desired energy savings are achieved. They will also guide you through each stage of the process and follow up with your case so that it’s easy for you!

Eligibility:

Athens WISE believes that every homeowner in the Athens area can make their house more comfortable while saving energy and reducing their monthly bills. Currently, the program serves homes that meet the following minimum criteria:

Located in Athens or Limestone County
Primary residence is owner-occupied
Primary residence is a single-family structure
